Whoops! I Didn’t Know That: Negotiating in
Diverse Arenas
Virginia is fortunate to have a very diverse
work-force. Men and women from many cultures
work together and enjoy the fruits of their
collective efforts. With this cultural
diversity, however, comes a responsibility for
all parties to respect the cultural aspects of
their peers, suppliers, customers and
stake-holders.
Negotiating is the process of reaching an
agreement, and provides an opportunity to
enhance our relationships or to destroy them.
It’s our choice.
This dynamic and interactive workshop will
examine the issues and challenges that cultural
diversity plays in collaborative negotiations.
The session will examine the following areas:
- Ethnic
issues in the negotiating process
- Negotiating
styles and their effect on the relationship
- Face
saving and the importance of being aware of the
issues associated with it
- Techniques
for controlling emotions during intense
negotiations
- How
to establish Equal Business Standing
- The
most common cultural traps in the negotiating
process |
